The name comes from the neat “flat line” across the middle of the drink, because after this you may feel like you’re flatlining.
This is a layered cocktail that’s meant to show off the potency of absinthe. The Flaming Imbecile is served on fire, easily done with the absinthe layered on the top. The shooter will definitely underscore the black liquorice/anisette flavor with some sourness followed by sweetness.
