Today we begin our cocktail fight night, the Spanish Bee Cocktail vs. the Sarita Cocktail for an ultimate winner of the Adam Elmegirab Bitters challenge. The contest takes Adam Elmegirab bitters and creates a classic cocktail creation from them, in this case we take the Spanish Bee and the Sarita Cocktail and do a taste comparison.

Citrus, a little bit of face lighting vodka, a bitter orange finish (using an authentic blue curacao of course). Definitely a bit of a sweet drink, with a light palatable flavor that still has a sharp heat near the mid-palate.
Doug believes this is a definitive stale airplane coffee like flavor and, regardless, it does bring a coffee based warmth to your mouth.
Aroma and taste is a reflection in the gin you use, juniper and sour apple finish, a bit of ginger and a muted anise that lingers a bit.
Candied midori starts the tasting followed into tequila with a creamy consistency and an extremely dry finish.
Sweet and sour acidity with fruity profile, a light citrus with muted tequila notes; a tiny bit of honey sweet finish.
A citrus attack that leads into a powerful punching finish. Plus, c’mon, it looks good.
Sambuca, jolly rancher candy with a bit of soda flavor, but that sambuca still comes through even with just a dash. Almost like an anise heavy southern comfort spice flavor.
A balance of sour and sweet with citrus that almost tastes like the secondary flavor of a lemon warhead, after you suck off that intense sour and start reaching the candy.
It’s starts flavorful citrus and cognac and easy drinking and then jumps into a fortified wine finish that is not exactly our favorite finish.
Sometimes simple cocktails come with the best flavor and the citrus blend with coffee brings a unique sense of sweetness without the need for added cream or sugar.
