Recipes

During our bi-weekly podcast we test out common drinking recipes and give our impressions on them with specific brands of alcohol. Here are the list of recipes we’ve used in podcasts.

Episode 01: Rum

Mai Tai
2 oz. light rum 1oz Triple Sec
1 Tbs. orgeat (almond) syrup (basically sugar cane)
1/2 oz. grenadine
1 oz. lime juice

The Goldeneye
2 oz. Dark Rum (Appleton’s preferred)
Juice of a 1/4 lime
Ice (crushed if available)
Hot Ginger Ale (”Jamaican Style” is a common designation)

Mango Mojito (mentioned in the episode)
1 oz. - 2 oz. Parrot Bay Mango Rum (2 oz. for some additional punch in the face)
4 oz. Rose’s Mango Mojito Mix
1/2 oz. Rose’s Lime Juice (or just leave it out if you like)
1 - 2 mint leaves
Crushed Ice

Episode 03: Brandy

Between the Sheets
3/4 oz brandy
3/4 oz light rum
3/4 oz triple sec
1/2 oz lemon juice
lemon twist for garnish

Preparation:
Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
Shake well.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Garnish with the lemon twist.

Manhattan
(Manhattan’s are usually made with bourbon, however, if you’re of the type that is unable to drink bourbon (or shouldn’t), brandy or cognac is a nice substitute.)

2 oz brandy or cognac
3/4 oz sweet vermouth
splash of Angostura bitters
maraschino cherry for garnish

Preparation:
Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake it. Shake it. Shake it some more. Awwhhhhhh yeah. Pour it out. Drink it.

Olympus Cocktail
3/4 oz Brandy
3/4 oz Orange Juice
3/4 oz Triple Sec
Ice

Preparation:
Shake with ice and strain into a glass.

Episode 07: Vodka

White Russian
2 oz. vodka
1 oz. coffee liqueur (i.e. Kahlua)
Milk/Cream on ice

Black Russian
1.5 oz. vodka
.75 oz. coffee liqueur on ice

Screwdriver
2 oz. vodka
5 oz. Orange Juice

Episode 08: Amaretto

Amaretto Stone Sour
2 parts Amaretto
2 parts Sweet and Sour Mix
Fill glass with orange juice

Italian Sunset (or Chubba Chubba)
2 parts Amaretto
Fill Glass with Pineapple Juice
Add a splash of Grenadine

Alabama Slammer
Equal amounts Amaretto, Southern Comfort, Sloe Gin and orange juice
Chill and pour into shot glass.

Silverlake Slip
Equal parts of Amaretto liqueur and grapefruit (preferably pink grapefruit) juice, served as a shooter or poured over five ice cubes in a taller glass.

1 Part Irish cream
1 Part Amaretto
1 Part Coffee liqueur
Add ice. Mix. Drink.

Boccie Ball
1 Part Amaretto
1 Part Orange Juice
Splash of Soda Water
Mix. Drink.
