Tropical drinks, slightly sweet cocktails, are pretty and enjoyable on the face. The Tropical Ivan falls directly in the category of fun for your face with a bit of tequila, bitters and triple sec. For those looking for a flavorful drink that isn’t full of fruits, the Sweet Old Fashioned #2 may be a good cocktail choice. This cocktail has subtle brandy/cognac flavors and smoothness with an underlying structure of angostura bitter. The Tequila Sour is a great way to experience tequila without going full Margarita. It’s sweet yet sour, has nice flavor properties without the orange and the bitters make it stand out as its own drink. Tequila lovers will, of course, love it and new tequila drinkers may find a more subtle way to experiment with tequilas. If you’re not into reposado’s, try the blanco/white/silver variaty. If you don’t have agave nectar, use simple syrup.
The Whiskey Sour is a beautifully elegant tasting cocktail with flavors of sweet and sour, almost like lemonade along with great oak flavors with a great body. This recipe worked so well I’ve had three more since recording the episode. This is what a great core cocktail should taste like without losing its identity as a whiskey. We’re hitting up yet another classic cocktail, the Dry Manhattan. While seemingly timeless, much of the “facts” about this classic drink have become stories passed down since the late 1800′s. Popular history says the drink originated at the Manhattan Club in New York City back in the 1870′s but we’ve got nobody to provide 100% proof of this anymore. Other history suggests the drink was born in the 1860′s but, in both cases, it pre-dates everyone drinking the cocktail today. [...]
The Champagne Cocktail is a classic little recipe. Valentine’s Day is on the way, perhaps this is something you can serve your loved on this February? Cognac, bitters, sugar and champagne. Yummy!
