Perhaps it’s the “mojito of the gin category” or this can be considered its own drink, along side other such greats. It’s a variation of a gin sour, no doubt but brings along with it some lemon citrus (instead of the typical lime). Later, we’ll see a recipe that could be slightly confused with this one known as the Chicago South Side cocktail, which is a completely different drink.

Bartending 101 suggests, you should know this recipe incase people order it, it’s like a gin mojito and fits a good summer time theme. If you need a nice summer time southside cocktail, this recipe may work for you–it’s sour enough, has a nice fresh mint backbone and fits the classic southside recipe needs.

The Southside
1 1⁄2 oz / 50 ml American Gin
3⁄4 oz / 25 ml Fresh Lemon Juice
1⁄2 oz / 15 ml Simple Syrup
