Today, let’s learn how to make a gin fix, an old cocktail once known more as a “fix up” that contained a variety of spirits. Not to be confused with the well known Gin Fizz, which comes in slightly different proportions (and has carbonation.)
A “Fix up”, as it was once called, can actually be brandy, whiskey or gin but the Gin Fix became more of the standard over the other options. This might be due to the overall trend of gin or because of the sheer amount of gin recipes at the time taking over many of the vintage books.
The Gin Fix
2 oz / 60 ml London Dry Gin
1 oz / 30 ml Fresh Lemon Juice
1/2 oz / 15 ml Rich Simple Syrup
Orange Slice Garnish
The classic gin fix is a worthwhile contender for your first gin cocktail experience, you can experience a fix up as it was done back in the day.
