We don’t have access to velvet falernum so we’re going to use B.G. Reynold’s Falernum Syrup on our 5th amendment recipe, which may mean it’s slightly more sweet than perhaps an alcoholic version of a falernum syrup. However, the 5th amendment brings plenty of other vibrant contenders from Fernet-Branco to Chartreuse (the yellow variation) along with your typical bourbon, which we use a bit overproof on.

5th Amendment Cocktail
– 1 3/4 oz. Bourbon whiskey
– 1/4 oz. Yellow Chartreuse
– 1/4 oz. Fernet-Branca
– 1/2 oz. Velvet Falernum
– 2 dashes Passion Fruit Bitters
– Garnish: Lemon peel

The Fifth Amendment cocktail recipe is definitely feeling like a classic recipe design, but it’s probably more modern than we think. Maybe a modern classic?

If you don’t have yellow chartreuse for your 5th amendment drink, try using green chartreuse instead.
