Let’s learn how to make a Pina Colada, or Piña Colada if you’ve got some Spanish letters in you. This is a pineapple forward cocktail that makes its coconut flavor through the use of Coco Lopez Coconut Cream. Why? It’s national pina colada day.
The Pina colada can be made in a variety of ways but this pina colada recipe is designed using a combination of coco lopez coconut cream, pineapple juice and standard white rum. While some pina colada cocktails call for coconut rum, it’s a non-issue when using coconut cream because all your great coconut flavor comes through that key ingredient.
All you need for the pina colada is white rum as your base spirit and, because we’re blending it, you’ll probably want a blender. Do you have to blend a pina colada? Not always, but the blended one comes out cold and refreshing. You’ll also find that this series of videos will bring together three blended beverages: The Pina Colada, The Strawberry Daiquiri and the Miami Vice. This is the first of three blended recipes.
So, learn how to make a pina colada because you’ll want to know how to make the recipe before you work on your Miami Vice recipe.
Plus, what better way to invite Doug Petersen back to the show than through National Piña Colada day!
2 oz white rum
1 oz Coco Lopez Coconut Cream
