Glad you did the Zombie, going to make the version you submitted tonight.
I also recommend the Zombie recipe from 1934 (featuring falernum and a mix of cinnamon-simple syrup).
They are selling Lemonhart overproof rum’s again (yey!) so you can almost go back to the authentic taste
As well, maybe something for a Common man in the future.. make your own falernum?
Check out the books by Beachbum Berry, THOSE are the authentic recipes…
Rose’s doesnt come close to Grenadine, it’s red colored sugar syrup. Monin’s Pomegranate is the stuff I use.
Simplified Version of Original Recipe by Beachbum Berry:
0.25 oz Fresh Lime
1 oz White Grapefruit
0.5 oz Cinnamon-Infused Sugar Syrup
0.5 oz Overproof Rum
1 oz Dark Jamaican Rum
I almost got Monin’s Pomegranate, but I was buying some Fee Brothers stuff so I figured I’d add that to cart first. The problem is, Roses’s makes a much better Shirley temple where real pomegranate makes a much better everything else
I don’t think I have Beachbum Berry’s books, but I saw the Zombie he did….didn’t really care to make cinnamon infused simple syrup and I’m not a fan of grapefruit
I wanted this recipe to be more “Common Man” that others can do, even though it had a lot more ingredients.
Eventually, I want to make all the zombie recipes that are out there. I did do one back in March 2009 but it didn’t make it onto youtube for some reason.
