Spiegelau Beer Glasses Review

Father’s Day is approaching, do you know what you’re going to be doing? Does your dad like craft beer? If so, it’s time to think about some beer glasses for fathers day! Spiegelau sent us their beer connoisseur set for the week so that we could take a look at what they’re offering and give our opinion. So, opinion away!

If you or your dad collect beer glasses like we do, you may find your shelves weighing down due to the heftiness of the variety of different design styles stuffed in your cabinet. I’ve got lager glasses, fancy German classes, Stella glasses, Sam Smith glasses, Sam Adams glasses, a few pilsner’s and other crazy designs. The Spiegelau glasses are super light way by design with thin walls which really feel comfortable on the lips, more so than I had originally expected. Sure, the marketing material explains how such a design helps guide your favorite beer right to the correct positions on the palate, but I thought it was just that, “marketing.” Turns out, it’s really a very comfortable fit, much like spending extra cash on a nice pair of sneakers over the $20 sale brands on the corner of the shelf.

The beer connoisseur set offers a glass for wheat beer, stouts/darks, lagers and pilsners. The four designs will run you roughly $49.90 which comes in at about double the price of the big box store glass options. However, you will be hard pressed to find a quality tulip shaped beer glasses and end up with piles of piles of basic pint and lager style glasses with the occasional tall pilsner option. If you’re like me, I don’t find it extremely personal to give such basic glassware for a gift on Fathers Day or any specific occasion besides that of a house warming (where you really have nothing at all and anything is better than nothing!)

Light weight, specially crafted for how beer connoisseur’s appreciate their beer and with beautiful hand blown style. Aside from the most obvious positives, the set comes with a manual on which glasses should be used with what style of beer, for those that want to learn more and are beginning with the basics. It is truly a beer tasters kit!

The price point is perfect for a gift, at least here in the United States it’s not that uncommon to spend $50 on a gift for a parent or family member (or myself quite frankly.) The only big downfall to the series is that only one glass of each type is supplied with the set. This means you won’t have cool glasses to give your guests that arrive for parties so you best hide the good stuff and give them the Kohls brand!
