Double Cross Luxury Vodka Review

I’m always weary to write a vodka review because it’s a neutral spirit and the goal is to have very little impact on your palate. There are vodka snobs that will tell you different but, as an everyday drinker, we’re going to stick by what we’ve said: most people don’t want to taste vodka.

Enter Double Cross, a vodka that needs to stand out amongst the wanna-be and trendy vodka’s of our time. It starts its life by stunning the onlookers with the most intensely pure poetic bottle design on earth, yeah, I said it. The thin body design manages to make square look hip again with clear glass, flashy silvers, inscriptions written on the back and a logo that pops out of the center like a beacon of inspiration. In many ways, you don’t want to cut the tape holding the top on as it would damage its pureness. The bottle design goes well with the concept of “clean and clear.”

However, looks can be deceiving so we’re not going to stop at a glance. She might be voted most likely to succeed and take the title of “Prom Queen” but how does she last over the long haul? You have to pop the cap and see!

The nose of this vodka is faint yet melodically vanilla when you close your eyes and let the rest of your senses be the judge. The slight vanilla hints are faded notes compared to the very neutral nose. Overall, Double Cross is mellow on nose, leaving much to the imagination.

As you’d expect from a top shelf vodka, the taste is very light and smooth with little to no astringent after-effects; it tastes as pure as a seven-filtered spirit should. Oddly enough, the finish is dry and the alcohol burn fades into existence seconds after the vodka leaves the palate, just when you think it’s gone it comes back for a short encore to tickle the tongue.

While the product tasting notes say “silky and creamy,” I’m not really feeling anything striking me with a cream-texture. It’s seems to fall somewhere between a smooth flowing water, more crisp and bright than cream or thick. You mouth is left feeling refreshed as if you just rinsed with a neutral flavored mouth, almost preparing your palate for food or a sweet cocktail (with vodka no doubt!)

In a cocktail, Double Cross will vanish from view, like the Wizard of Oz behind a curtain of fruits and liqueurs, only to make its appearance felt in a rather 80-proof (40% ABV) magical way. We’re suggesting Double Cross for such things as a Vodka Martini or the infamous Long Island Ice Tea where it seems it would compliment other top shelf liquors quite well.

How will Double Cross do in contention for top dog of vodka? I tasted it side-by-side with Tito’s Handmade Vodka and found they battled it out so well. I had to start over as I forgot which vodka was which, paying closer attention to bottle placement. While Tito’s is a six times distilled neutral spirit vodka it holds up well against the contender for less than half the price. However, against the high priced over-marketed vodka brands (almost everyone else), you’re going to have a hard time beating the sexiness and subtlety of this sultry spirit.

If you’re finding yourself short on cash Tito’s Handmade Vodka would be a good choice.  If you’ve got $45 to $50 to spend on a top shelf vodka and want to taste a bit of the Slovakian heritage, Double Cross would be a wise choice.

This vodka has my two thumbs up. I’ve been introduced to this vodka by my brother-in-law Rudy and I just cannot stop enjoying it. As one of the seven times disttled vodkas, I do have to say its the best. Gray goose has nothing in comparison but’ being overpriced.I can say, Double cross is #1, Belvedere #2, and Grey goose #3. Even the poetry etched on the designed bottle gives this vodka a top shelf.

This the best vodka ever!!! Kettle one, Gray Goose, and Belvedere don’t even come close to Double Cross. I would have to thank my father for this one; he is the one that introduced me to it. Now that I had Double Cross I can’t go back to any other vodka. THIS IS BY FAR CLEARLY THE BEST VODKA I’VE EVER TASTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU DOUBLE CROSS!!!
